Editorial policy

The standards behind every page: independence, sourcing, and what we will and won't publish.

Independence

We take no payment from manufacturers for coverage, no sponsored placements, and no free products in exchange for a review. We fund the site through affiliate links (see our affiliate disclosure), and those links never determine our recommendations. When a cheaper pan is the better buy, it’s our pick — even if a pricier one would pay us more.

How we source facts

Every specification we publish is read from the manufacturer’s own materials or the product listing, and dated to the day we read it. Every claim about how cast iron, seasoning or enamel works is tied to a named, published source — you’ll find a Sources list at the foot of each guide. We explain our full ranking process on the methodology page.

What we will not do

  • We don’t fabricate testing. We don’t run a lab or own the pans we compare, and we never claim we do. Where hands-on testing matters, we say so.
  • We don’t invent reviews, ratings or testimonials. There are no made-up star ratings, quotes or “in our testing” claims anywhere on this site.
  • We don’t guess at specs or prices. An unknown spec is marked “Not published.” An unconfirmed price shows “Check price” rather than a number.

Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes, and we’d rather fix them than defend them. If you spot a spec error or an out-of-date fact, email info@skilletandstove.com or use the contact form. We check the claim against its source and, if you’re right, correct it and update the page’s “last updated” date.

Updates

Prices are re-checked automatically every day. Picks are reviewed on a regular cadence and the money pages are refreshed as products change, so a page you read is meant to reflect what’s actually for sale now, not a snapshot from three years ago. Each page carries the date it was last updated.
